The Northeast Pennsylvania Rifle League (NEPARL) is made up of ten high schools in the Eastern and Central Pennsylvania areas. The league is a co-ed small bore prone league competing in the winter P.I.A.A. sports season. Teams compete for a regular season championship and a tournament championship. The teams compete using .22 caliber bolt-action rifles and shoot an A-17 Target. Shooters have 10 minutes to complete the target, each team fields 10 shooters with the 5 best scores comprising the team score. If a tie exists after 5 shooters additional scores are used until the tie is broken. The top 4 regular season teams qualify for the tournament championship, and the top 3 teams from the tournament qualify for state competition. The post season concludes with a league All-Star tournament and state individual and team championships.
